Founder's Letter

A personal note on why Pulsyn exists.

James Hoffmann

Founder

Solo founder and new dad building a privacy-first health ring.

Hi, I'm James Hoffmann. I'm 21, a new dad, and the solo founder of Pulsyn. I started building Rune 1 after years of wearables that asked me to trade my health data for basic insights.

Privacy isn't a feature to me; it's the foundation. Your ring should keep your data on-device, do the heavy lifting locally, and never send anything out unless you decide to share.

I believe AI should help people understand themselves, not take their jobs or exploit their data. Pulsyn exists to build a calm, human-first kind of intelligence - the kind you can trust with your body.

What We Believe

These are the non-negotiables that shape every decision we make.

Privacy as a Right

Your biometrics stay on your ring by default. No background uploads, no hidden analytics, no data brokerage. You choose if anything ever leaves the device.

AI for Humans

AI should make you more capable, not replace you. We use it for clear, practical insights that respect your time and agency.

Hardware with Soul

Built to feel beautiful and durable, not disposable. Designed to last and priced to be accessible - no subscription gates.

Open by Default

We explain what we collect (nothing by default), what runs on-device, and why. Transparency is part of trust.

The Journey

A timeline of how Rune 1 is moving from idea to reality.

  1. Q3 2024

    The Idea

Early building begins with a simple goal: health insights without the data trade-off.

  2. Q1 2025

    First Prototype

The first ring prototype proves on-device health processing is viable.

  3. Q2 2025

    Beta-Wave App

The companion app comes alive with early beta-wave testers validating the experience.

  4. Q3 2025

    Direction Locked

Momentum builds as the product direction solidifies and on-device AI takes shape.

  5. Q4 2025

    Refine and Polish

We focus on reliability, fit, finish, and the small details that make the ring disappear on your hand.

  6. Q1 2026

    Waitlist Open

Waitlist is open while we prepare the final launch and production ramp.

“Health data should make you stronger, not make you a product.”

James is a 21-year-old solo founder raising a newborn daughter while building Pulsyn. After seeing wearable companies turn biometrics into a business model, he committed to a different path: on-device intelligence, no subscriptions, and privacy as a default, not a setting.
